Private Scanning & Diagnostic Imaging Services
Get the answers you need, sooner
When pain, injury or ongoing symptoms require further investigation, diagnostic imaging can provide valuable information about what may be happening beneath the surface.
Through LiveWell Health, patients can access a range of private diagnostic imaging services, including MRI scans, X-rays, CT scans and Ultrasound scans at imaging centres across the UK.
With a Map style set up, you can look over all the imaging centres around your postcode and further afield but more importantly all the prices associated with those centres. Giving you complete transparency, and if you don't mind travelling, you could find centres hundreds of pounds cheaper.
If you need some advice before going down this route, our Physiotherapists and Sports Therapists can discuss whether further investigation may be appropriate and, where suitable, help arrange a referral for diagnostic imaging.
Whether you are dealing with a sports injury, persistent pain, a musculoskeletal problem or symptoms that have not improved as expected, we can help you take the next step.
MRI Scanning
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) produces detailed images of the body's soft tissues, joints and other structures.
MRI scans may be useful when investigating problems involving areas such as:
- Muscles and tendons
- Ligaments
- Joints
- Spinal structures
- Discs
- Cartilage
- Bones and surrounding soft tissues
A wide range of body areas can be scanned, with different scan options available depending on the clinical requirement.
X-Ray Scanning
X-rays are commonly used to examine bones and joints and can help identify structural changes or abnormalities.
They may be recommended when investigating:
- Suspected fractures
- Bone injuries
- Joint problems
- Degenerative changes
- Alignment or structural concerns
- Certain chest or respiratory investigations
CT Scanning
CT (Computed Tomography) uses X-rays and computer processing to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body.
CT scanning can provide more detailed information than a standard X-ray in certain circumstances and may be used to investigate a variety of structures and conditions.
Depending on the type of investigation required, contrast material may also be used.
Ultrasound Scanning
Diagnostic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to produce real-time images of structures within the body.
Musculoskeletal ultrasound can be particularly useful when investigating certain:
- Tendon problems
- Muscle injuries
- Ligament injuries
- Soft tissue conditions
- Lumps or swellings
- Joint-related problems
The appropriate type of imaging will depend on your symptoms, medical history and clinical presentation.
